Hi David,
It was great to read your message - it was an unexpected present. Thanks.
I'll be in contact privately to follow up. But in public, let me share a few bits:

1) I have requested a telelogic DOORS DXL wiki. I hope that you and other customers will populate it with the useful hunks'o DXL from the legacy forum and from elsewhere. I expect the wiki will be available soon and I'll post that info here.

2) If anybody wants to join in the fun, post here or write me privately. I believe I need to authorize your dW/wiki ID in order to initially obtain write privileges. Whenever we think it is best, we can open it up to unrestricted write access. In the ClearQuest forum FAQ, four customers stepped up and formed a leadership group. They coordinated the involvement of all the other forum folk. It would be great if we could identify a handful of interested DXL friends who want to lead this DXL repository.

3) is the organization listed above by RobK god to go. Does anybody have constructive ideas on how to improve things?

Any opinions on adding our old friend WEXP to the Export category? I assume IBM now owns the copyright on it. I've made a few modifications to it to make it work in DOORS 8.2.

I don't currently have the time to add a Wiki, but here is a summary of the changes I made to wexpinit.inc (Version last updated by JD 26/04/05). I made some other changes to wexpload.inc and wexp.~in due to errors in a module that contains curly brackets which are interpreted as bookmarks by WEXP (is it a feature or a bug?). You only need this fix if you have curly brackets in any modules you plan to WEXP. We have one such module and can't change them to another character. The real solution is to have a checkbox in the WEXP advanced options to allow you "Interpret curly brackets as bookmarks" but I don't have the time to learn how to do this.

I have finally established the wiki that will serve as an organized repository for DXL scripts. It is currently empty except for a placeholder table of content initiated by Rob Kohl and refined by others.

Several fellow customers (David Pechacek, Andrew Tagg and Rob Kohl) have generously volunteered to help populate the archive with scripts from the legacy forum and elsewhere. They are just now getting enabled with write access. If you'd like to help in this effort, please contact me directly so I can help get you plugged in.

Otherwise, stand by as the forum gets built due to the kind efforts of your fellow community members.

Depending on what you are upgrading from and how paranoid you are, you may want to do some testing ahead of time. We upgraded only when we were forced to by Telelogic, with only two migrations in the past 7 years: 5.2 - 7.1 - 8.2. For both, I did a dry run with a copy of my database on a spare server to ensure a smooth upgrade and verify all DXLs (including WEXP) beforehand. Here are some other gotchas with 8.2 that I found:

• Upgrade the license server to 1.3 and get new licenses from IBM
• Reset customised registry settings
• Copy user menu DXLs and those relied on by triggers from old folder to new folder
• Ensure that all users have access to directory C:\program files\Telelogic\DOORS_8.2\temp otherwise they get an error msg and cannot log in (Fixed in 8.3)
• Ensure that all users have at least Read access on the Link module used for creating the links between Source and Target modules. If the user has “No access” to the link module then the link arrows will not be displayed.
